About Mr. Roberts:   Mr. Roberts grew up in New York City and went to Flushing H.S., Nassau Community College and finally Dowling College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Natural Science in 1982.  He returned to Dowling College in 1990 for Computer Science and again in 2003 for Aeronautical Science.  In 2004 Mr. Roberts moved to Florida after retiring from KeySpan Energy in NYC (now National Grid) where he gained experience in power generation, nuclear physics, industrial engineering and information technology - he was there for 34 years!  Mr. Roberts is certified by the FDOE in Physics, and Middle Grades General Science.  He has also been certified to teach AP Physics by the College Board, and by Kaplan to teach their SAT/ACT math and science prep courses.  In 2010 Mr. Roberts received certification as a Florida Digital Educator from the Florida Center for Instructional Technology at USF.

Mr. Roberts started his teaching career at Hernando H.S. in 2005 as their Physics teacher.  In 2011 he transferred to Hernando eSchool as their first full-time science teacher, and joined us at Parrott in 2014 as the IP Coach for Science.  Since he started teaching in Hernando County Mr. Roberts has taught Middle School Science Grades 6, 7 and 8, Biology, Computer Programming, Earth & Space Science, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Marine Science, Physical Science, Physics, and AP Physics.

In his personal life
Mr. Roberts is a pilot, a master scuba diver, and an underwater photographer.  He loves technology, scuba diving, flying airplanes, biking, tennis, boating, kayaking, reading and learning!   An interesting fact about Mr. Roberts is that, when he and his wife moved to Florida in 2004, they flew their own plane from MacArthur Airport in Long Island, N.Y, to Pilot Country Airport in Hudson, Florida.  There were no long lines at the airport or speed traps to deal with - but they had to land for gas in Maryland and Georgia!
