Our students were lucky enough to go on a field trip to the Springs Coast EEC courtesy of Southwest Florida Water Management District. It is always a good time with Ms. Cheryl. She works very hard to make sure the students learn something new and have fun doing it. The students were able to go in their own kayak and go down the Weeki Wachi River. While kayaking, they learned about how that section of the river is protected and what types of invasive species can ruin the ecosystem. Some students also learned to kayak for the very first time. In the lab, the students learned about macro invertebrates. They learned where they live, what they look like, and how to identify them. They got to explore the "bugs" under the microscope and learn some interesting facts about them.
Thank you to Ms. Cheryl, Mr. Jim, SWFMD, and all of the volunteers for everything you did to make our trips a success!!
See below for the pictures of our trip and to find your child.
